There are elements so simple and of everyday use that fascinate anyone to see their results when they are used in household chores. This morning I was looking at a simple pumice stone and wondered why they are so in demand and used at home.

I decided to read a bit about it and found a very interesting article by Soe Kabbabe (September 2017) and on this article I will base my collaboration.

The famous pumice stone is not only to remove calluses on the feet, a use given very frequently -especially by women. Being creative, it can be used to clean the bathroom and even remove hair without chemicals. Let’s start with a little about its origin.

This is a stone that comes from the depths of a volcano. It is very porous, of low density – therefore, it floats on water – it is white or gray in color. The use of this stone dates back at least two thousand years in the Roman infrastructure and industry. Let’s see the uses of this phenomenal stone.

a) Rub a pumice stone on sweaters or shirts made of thick material to remove lint or lint balls from the fabric itself. Not recommended for delicate garments.

b) A wet pumice stone will remove soap residue and yellow streaks in the toilet and bathtub.

c) Excellent for cleaning the oven; although it takes a little time, the pumice stone cleans deeply and removes grease build-up.

d) As with lint, pumice removes pet hair from carpets and furniture.

e) If you struggle to remove your hair, wet a pumice stone and carefully run it on your arms or legs while showering. If your hair is fine, it will remove it immediately!

f) If you love the worn style of shorts or pants, do it yourself! Just rub a pumice stone on your favorite jeans!

g) Fill your home with scents without a diffuser. Pumice is naturally porous. Put a few drops of natural oils on it and wait a few minutes, you’ll see that it works as an aromatizer throughout your home!

h) Pumice can serve as sandpaper. Run it on your wooden furniture before repainting it.

These and more uses, especially for beauty purposes can be used with this stone. It is worth a try and be amazed at the results. If you know of any other practical uses, let me know by commenting on our IESEG page. I hope at some point the points made by Soe Kabbabe will be of much use. See you next time.
